On page 342 and 343 of "Great People of the Bible and How they Lived" there is a pencil art scene of a biblical times Hebrew wedding.
On the right hand side a man arrives and the lowlyist servant washes the feet of the newly arriving guest.
Jesus, the Christ/Messiah/Machiach/Anointed One girded himself and started washing the feet of his deciples as an indication a type & shadow of his service to mankind! He lowered himself! God in the flesh humbled himself to wash the feet of his creation!
Service! Service to one another! Service by a man to his neighbor! Service by harvesting his crops while he's in the hospital. The service of a farmer coming in from the field and seeing his wife weary with cooking and cleaning and sitting her down and giving her a good shoulder rub while his own feet are on fire!
Generally speaking, this type of service is a forgotten concept!
Perhaps if we all tried to live more like Jesus did we'd live in a better world! Simplistic isn't it?
