Nor did he have the intelligence or journalistic ethics to give a reason for the ban.

Long before he came to Victoria I did a number of letters to the editor concerning immigration reform. None violated Advocate "user policy" at the time. All were published, as written.

In fact, I was writing about immigration reform in Victoria before many of the forum moderators were born! And therein lies the rub! It was assumed that since I had an Anglo last name and I was writing about this issue. I must be prejudiced!

In other words I was racially profiled by people who don't know that one of my two mother's name is Cano! And I speak and sing better Spanish than some of those moderators!

Ah, the power of ignorance in the hands of the educated elite is an awesome thing!

Attorney General Eric Holder, just days after filing a federal lawsuit against Arizona's immigration law, on Sunday floated the possibility of filing another suit on racial profiling grounds.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Arizona claimed the state was infringing on federal immigration responsibilities and urged the judge to prevent the law from going into effect at the end of July. Despite some officials' claims that the law could lead to racial profiling, that concern was not cited as grounds for the suit.

However, Holder said on CBS' "Face the Nation" that the federal government was leading with its "strongest" argument in the suit filed Tuesday and would not rule out a second suit months down the road -- if the law ends up going into effect.

"It doesn't mean that if the law for whatever reason happened to go into effect, that six months from now, a year from now, we might not look at the impact the law has had ... and see whether or not there has been that racial profiling impact," Holder said. "If that was the case, we would have the tools and we would bring suit on that basis."

Holder, reacting to the firestorm of criticism from Republicans and border-state lawmakers, said the Justice Department decided to file the suit because Arizona's immigration law is "inconsistent" with federal policy and the U.S. Constitution. He said there's nothing to stop local jurisdictions and states from helping the government enforce immigration law, but described Arizona's law as contradictory to what the federal government is trying to accomplish.


Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., disputed Holder's characterization. Speaking on "Fox News Sunday," he said Arizona's law is trying to help, not hinder, the federal government's immigration efforts."

Not only, upon actual reading the actual language of the bill, is the Arizona law consistant with federal law but it goes beyond federal law with protections against profiling that federal law doesn't! These are the "facts of the matter!"

Only the seriously deranged, in my opinion would waste the taxpayer's money in such a flagrant manner!

NOW do you see what I mean about, not all but, much of today's higher education?

Holder has education but obviously no wisdom or real, practical intelligence!

70% of Arizona voters supported the new immigration law in that state and that could never happen without many Hispanic supporters! Were all of those voters prejudiced? How about the lady from California sitting down with Hispanic property owners in the border areas of Arizona and discussing the Russian RPGs seen in the photos here! Or the hundreds of machine guns, .50 cal sniper rifles and M-26 grenades!

And now the Obama administration has the incredible gall to try and sue the State of Arizona? This is just more proof that we have a dangerously unstable national socialist child in charge of this country!

I have close kin who are Hispanic. I have an adopted mother whom I love greatly! I know that I have close kin who have crossed that border into this country and one of my ancestors was a native American of the Mandan tribe! They were one of the many tribes in the Sioux family murdered by the "Butcher of the Black Hills" Gen. George Armstrong Custer!

So yeah! Go ahead and try to profile me!

Have we ceded a portion of the soverign lands of this country to criminals from another country? I spoke of this-warned of this more than 20 years ago and was labeled a bigot and prejudiced. To close this area off and cede it to the same criminals that are devastating Mexico!

Thousands of acres of government parkland in Arizona that were quietly closed to U.S. citizens in 2006 due to safety concerns fueled by drug and human smuggling along the Mexican border remain a no-go zone for Americans nearly four years later.

Roughly 3,500 acres of taxpayer-funded government land in Arizona have been closed to U.S. citizens since 2006 due to safety concerns fueled by drug and human smuggling along the Mexican border, according to a statement posted on the website for the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.

The section of land -- about 3 percent of the 118,000-acre refuge -- has been closed since Oct. 6, 2006, when "there was a marked increase in violence along the border due to human and drug trafficking," according to the statement released Wednesday by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The closed area extends north from the international border for roughly three-quarters of a mile; a notice of the area's closure has been posted on the refuge's website since 2006. The remainder of the refuge remains open to the public for recreational activities.

"At this time there are no plans to reopen this southernmost 3/4-mile portion of the Refuge," the statement continued. "However, since 2006 the Refuge has experienced a significant decline in violent activity in the area thanks to ongoing cooperation between the US Fish and Wildlife Service and US Customs and Border Protection."

Giving Part of U.S. to Mexico? A stretch of Arizona is off limits to Americans because of heavily armed drug smugglers and human traffickers!

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu told Fox News on Wednesday that violence against law enforcement officers and U.S. citizens has increased in the past four months, further underscoring the need to keep the area off-limits to Americans.

"It's literally out of control," Babeu said. “We stood with Senator McCain and literally demanded support for 3,000 soldiers to be deployed to Arizona to get this under control and finally secure our border with Mexico."

U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials have warned visitors in the area to beware of heavily armed drug smugglers and human traffickers. In a statement posted at the time of the closure, Mitch Ellis, manager of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, said conditions in the zone reached a point where public use of the area was not prudent.

"The [refuge] has been adversely affected by border-related activities," Ellis' statement read. "The international border with Mexico has also become increasingly violent. Assaults on law enforcement officers and violence against migrants have escalated. Violence on the Refuge associated with smugglers and border bandits has been well-documented."

Security is also a top concern in other parcels of public land in Arizona.

Dennis Godfrey, a spokesman for the Bureau of Land Management's Arizona office, said roughly a dozen signs were posted earlier this month along the Sonoran Desert National Monument advising that travel in the area is not recommended due to "active drug and human" smuggling.

"It is a corridor for smugglers of all types," Godfrey said on Thursday.

The monument, which contains more than 487,000 acres of desert landscape, is roughly 35 miles southwest of Phoenix. Bureau of Land Management officials are encouraging travelers to use public lands north of Interstate 8, which runs from San Diego to Casa Grande, Ariz.

"Visitors may encounter armed criminals and smuggling vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed," the signs read. "Stay away from trash, clothing, backpacks and abandoned vehicles."

Take a close look please at the lady with the sign. Look at her carefully. She lives in another state and she's advocating a boycott of Arizona for that state's effort to protect it's border and it's citizens. Has this lady considered the fact that there are may Hispanic citizens of the state of Arizona that voted for and supported the Arizona law? Is she considering the fact that there are Hispanic citizens of Arizona who's property along the border has been trashed like the one in the photo? Is she considering the fact that the federal government is advising American citizens NOT to travel in two border counties in Arizona simply because there is too much Mexican drug cartel crime there? Is she considering the fact that Phoenix Arizona is the kidnap capitol of the U.S. because of illegal immigration? Is she considering the fact that many of those kidnapped are Hispanic? Are LULAC, MALDEF and La Raza considering these same facts?

The answer to all of these questions is a resounding "No!" This lady and these organizations have reduced this issue to it's lowest common denominator*; hate and division!

I wonder what would happen if Mr. Calderon spent a little time in the homes of Mexican/Americans who live on the border and are victimized regularly by an incredible hoarde roaming through property they pay taxes on?

In the 80s this was going on in Texas. The Valley Morning Star reported and quoted Mexican/American citizens complaining of the traffic, trash and public urination going on in their yards!

And while this "debate" is going on no one seems to be complaining about the reverse racial profiling I see every day! The same racial profiling I saw in the 80s and the same racial profiling I've seen concerning the political policies of this presidential administration! If you support immigration reform or if you disagree with the politics of Barak Obama and you have white skin, you must be a bigot! You must be prejudiced!

Personally, I hate all forms of racial prejudice! I believe it's a sin and God will punish it. I am well aware that I have relatives that come north across that border all the time.

This is not an issue of skin color or language. It's an issue of national soverignty, economic survival and the public safety of our own citizens!

And whose fault is it? Look in the mirror! Yes, look in the mirror! The American people have taught two generations of children that to work hard, to sweat, to labor with one's hands at a trade or craft building America is a bad thing! We have taught our children the idea of entitlement!

We have raised, generally speaking, two generations of children who not only don't want to work but don't know how!

And the sad fact is, foreign workers make better employees! Yes, people! Read it and weep! You are one of the main reasons we have this problem!

Worse yet, we have aborted two generations of children who would now be paying into a social security system that is broke! We have aborted better than 50 million workers!

So! If we round 'em all up and send 'em home, who's gonna do the work?

U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade


"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.


The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States would support the talks as long as the negotiating forum, the so-called Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, "operates under the rules of consensus decision-making."

"Consensus is needed to ensure the widest possible support for the Treaty and to avoid loopholes in the Treaty that can be exploited by those wishing to export arms irresponsibly," Clinton said in a written statement.

While praising the Obama administration's decision to overturn the Bush-era policy and to proceed with negotiations to regulate conventional arms sales, some groups criticized the U.S. insistence that decisions on the treaty be unanimous.

"The shift in position by the world's biggest arms exporter is a major breakthrough in launching formal negotiations at the United Nations in order to prevent irresponsible arms transfers," Amnesty International and Oxfam International said in a joint statement.

However, they said insisting that decisions on the treaty be made by consensus "could fatally weaken a final deal."

"Governments must resist US demands to give any single state the power to veto the treaty as this could hold the process hostage during the course of negotiations. We call on all governments to reject such a veto clause," said Oxfam International's policy adviser Debbie Hillier.

The proposed legally binding treaty would tighten regulation of, and set international standards for, the import, export and transfer of conventional weapons.

Supporters say it would give worldwide coverage to close gaps in existing regional and national arms export control systems that allow weapons to pass onto the illicit market.

Nations would remain in charge of their arms export control arrangements but would be legally obliged to assess each export against criteria agreed under the treaty. Governments would have to authorize transfers in writing and in advance.

The main opponent of the treaty in the past was the U.S. Bush administration, which said national controls were better. Last year, the United States accounted for more than two-thirds of some $55.2 billion in global arms transfer deals.

Arms exporters China, Russia and Israel abstained last year in a U.N. vote on the issue.

The proposed treaty is opposed by conservative U.S. think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, which said last month that it would not restrict the access of "dictators and terrorists" to arms but would be used to reduce the ability of democracies such as Israel to defend their people.

The U.S. lobbying group the National Rifle Association has also opposed the treaty.

A resolution before the U.N. General Assembly is sponsored by seven nations including major arms exporter Britain. It calls for preparatory meetings in 2010 and 2011 for a conference to negotiate a treaty in 2012.
